On July 11, about 175 YLS alumni, current students, admitted students, and their guests escaped the Washington, DC, summertime heat and humidity and gathered at the National Press Club, for the YLSA of Washington, DC, Annual Dinner. The evening began with a reception, which gave everyone a chance to visit with old friends and make new ones. Before dinner was served, Dean Robert Post ’77 told the attendees about exciting initiatives taking place at the Law School, ranging from new faculty hires to the impact of the work of the YLS clinics. After dinner, YLSA President Robin Meriweather '98 gave a wonderful introduction of the evening’s guest of honor: Gene Sperling ’85, Director of the National Economic Council and Assistant to the President for Economic Policy. Gene Sperling then gave a fantastic talk, which was filled with both humor, and straightforward and insightful commentary on the ongoing debt ceiling debate.
