Fifty YLS graduates and their guests visited Christie’s Auction House on November 27 for a program titled, “ Inside the Auction House; the Making of an Auction Sale.” Aviva Lehmann, Christie’s VP/Specialist in the American Painting Department, gave a tour of the American paintings for sale and led a discussion on an “inside look” at how an auction sale is conceived, planned, and accomplished, and described briefly some of the current economic, legal and artistic issues faced by Christie’s as the world’s largest art business. YLS graduate David Rigney ’69, member of the YLSA Board of Directors for New York, and Dr. Veronique Chagnon-Burke, Director of Studies at Christie’s, kindly helped arrange this wonderful event.
