A second YLS Christie’s Auction House Tour was held on May 12. Alumni and their guests participated in a private tour “Inside the Auction House: The Sale of Important American Paintings, Drawings, and Sculptures.” Aviva Lehmann, Christie’s VP/Specialist in the American Painting Department, gave a tour of the items for sale and led a discussion on an “inside look” at how an auction sale is conceived, planned, and accomplished, and described briefly some of the current economic, legal and artistic issues facing Christie’s today. A member of the YLSA of NYC Board of Directors, David Rigney ’69, helped arrange this second tour. The Christie’s catalogue can be viewed on line at www.christies.com.
